減肥平台期與減肥藥物
一些比較肥胖的人士若單以飲食及運動等調整生活模式的方法減重,達到的效果大約是減去原本體重的5-10%,之後可能會出現平台期,體重未能再大幅下降,這是很普遍的現象。
這階段需再注意飲食方面的調節或增加運動量;不過在做這些之前,先要考慮這些改變是否可長期維持 。一些極端的方法,例如每天連續做運動幾小時等,在短線而言或有一定成效,但長遠卻難以持久 。
若進一步的生活模式改變並非實際可行,而且身體本身亦已有其他健康風險,例如:高血壓、高血脂、脂肪肝或糖尿病等,那麼要進一步降低體重就可能要經醫生評估及處方使用合適的減肥藥物有助再改善體重及健康。這正是我們會在比較嚴重肥胖的人士應用減肥藥的部份原因。
